AfriMAP “aims to monitor and promote compliance by African states with the requirements of good governance, democracy, human rights and the rule of law.” The organization aims to produce reports identifying achievements and challenges in complying with international standards relating to human rights, the rule of law and accountable government, and suggesting means to improve performance, support and promote the active engagement of civil society organisations as independent monitors of government, and complement and engage in critical dialogue with the African Union and its monitoring efforts, particularly the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM). From their web site users can read more about AfriMAP’s work, access a number of their reports, questionnaires, and updated news and information. Worth visiting is their online library database that contains resources on themes related to good governance and accountability in Africa.
